What is FamilyZip? FamilyZip is the first family-friendly sharing network that helps real people share valuable tips and ideas. Tips and ideas can be about kid-friendly activities, family travel, eating out, parenting, datenight for parents, a great local theatre, etc.
View the Newest tips or view them by Topic or even Search for Tips based on keywords. When you find great Tips, you can Zip them to add them to your My Zips for easy access This also increases their popularity. If you think a post is bad, you can Zap it to decrease its popularity. The community, not any editors, decide what's best.
FamilyZip is all about sharing and also provides an opportunity for community members to earn royalties when they post great Tips that are useful to the community.
Why should I join? FamilyZip is the ideal community for finding & sharing family-friendly ideas on things like activities, family travel, parenting, using the Internet, books, local venues, and more. The content is driven by the community, so the tips most popular tips bubble to the top.
Joining lets you to save your favorite tips to your "MyZips" page for easy access. It also enables you to weigh in your opinion by Zipping great posts and Zapping the bad ones. If you have a lot of great ideas of your own, you can even make money by sharing in the ad revenue of the tips that you post.

How do I Join? Joining is easy. To Get Started, simply click the Sign Up in the top navigation menu. It really takes just 1 minute to sign up. and it's FREE.
What are My Zips? MyZips is a place where you can save tips and topics posts that you really like.
Once you start reading tips you can keep track of all of your favorites by Zipping the tips that you like. Tips that you Zip will be stored in one convenient location, like a bookmark to all your favorite tips. Within your MyZips, you can also mark a post as a Favorite so that it appears at the very top of MyZips.
When you "Zip" a tip you also give it a positive vote to increase it's popularity. The FamilyZip community is all about user driven family-friendly tips.
How do I make a suggestion or provide feedback? We welcome suggestions from members on how to improve the site. Simply click the Feedback link on the bottom of the page to send us your feedback.
What can I do if I am not receiving my activation email? Some email services can mistakenly file an email into a bulk mail folder. To avoid this problem, put "familyzip.org" into your whitelist domain list. If you are unsure how to do this, we suggest sending a question to your email service provider.
How do I control who sees my stuff? FamilyZip let's you control how you share your stuff in the following ways:
Tips and Topics
Your posts to Tips and Topics are shared with the community at large, because this is the main purpose of FamilyZip - enabling the community to share great family-friendly ideas. However, any personal information about you is still kept private - only the content of your tip is visible to the community.
Journals
When you create a Journal, you can specify who can view it - Friends only, Friends of Friends as well, or everyone. You can set this when you first create a Journal, and you can also change it later by clicking on the Journals tab, then clicking on the Journal you want to edit, and then clicking the "Settings" button to change the sharing settings.
Gallery
By default, your Photos are only shared with your friends. If you want to share a particular photo with Friends of Friends or to make it available publicly, you can always post the Photo into a Journal and set your desired sharing settings for that Journal.
How do I Unsubscribe? For Users Who Completed the Signup Process
Simply go to your Account Settings under the My Account tab, or you can jump directly to the Subscriptions page. From this page, you will see different frequencies for updates - to unsubscribe choose None.
Unsubscribing or changing your subscription preferences is easy, but we do require you to login so we can make sure it's really you! If you forgot your password, just click this Retrieve Password link.
For Users Who Did NOT Completed the Signup Process
If you have not yet activated your account, there is a link at the bottom of your activation email to cancel activation.
How do I add to or remove from my ZipList? To add an item, simply click the Thumbs Up icon from any tip and then click the "ZipList" button to add it to your ZipList. If the post is one of your most favorites, you can also click the "Favorite" button.
To remove an item you can click the Zipped link from the post and then click the "Clear" button to remove it from your ZipList.
If you really dislike a post, you can Zap it to vote against it.
