Tougas is a great local orchard! The playground for the kids is fun too! We love picking apples and pumpkins there!
In 10 Ways to Tame Summer Camp Costs
Thanks! With two 5-yr olds going into school this Fall, I started to look at summer camp costs since we both work full time. Any ways we can save are appreciated!
In Apple Orchards in Massachusetts
I've lived in MA all my life (I'm 41) and I JUST found the best family apple orchard in Natick, MA. Belkin Lookout Farm. It's huge, has apples, pears, peaches, and other stuff. There's a huge children's playground that you get to by riding a "train" (like a trolley) through beautiful grapevine covered trails thru the orchard. The playground has a petting zoo, pony rides, a huge pile of bales of hay to climb, a bee observatory, and they sell cold drinks, and hot dogs and burgers. If you catch it on the right weekend, there is even a kids magician. We've been to Brookfield (a dump), and Tougas (small and good, but nowhere near as good as Belkin Lookout farm).
In Hopkinton State Park
I just drove by Hopkinton State Park (it's rainy today so didn't go in)...but saw a sign that says Boat Rentals weekends 10am-6pm. Think we'll try that out some weekend!
In Roger Williams Carousel Park
This zoo is the best one we've been to that's close to home (Central Mass). It's much better than Soutwicks - cleaner, flatter, better exhibits.
