The onlt plants that Monarch butterflies lay their eggs on are members of the aslepias (milkweed) family, so this is a great plant for all butterfly gardens. I harvest milkweed seeds in the winter, from milkweed pods I find in the wild, then start the seeds indoors and transplant them into my garden come spring. They'll bloom the second or third year.
