I printed out a note explaining what I wanted to do, and put them in the kids' mailboxes. I also sent an e-mail (we had a list of everyone's e-mail addresses that the teacher had given us). We made a similar project this year at her new school and put notes in the folders that go home with the kids everyday; we asked the teacher if it was okay, and asked her not to read it, so it would be a surprise.

I have one and love it too - I've had it for about ten years now. I use mine for grinding spices for Indian dishes, as well as chopping garlic and ginger.
In Picasa's Perfect Picture Collages
The program is a little buggy for me (I use it on a Mac, so that may be some of it) but I really like the collage feature for scrapbooking, I like that I can have Shutterfly print out the photos instead of wasting color ink on my printer, and best of all, it's free.
