I've called the Big Brother Big Sister Foundation a few times this past year as well. They pick up at your door. Furniture and a few other items are only picked up in the local, Boston area though.
In Homemade Cleaners
I am all for green alternatives!! My problem with the cleaners I've made so far is that they require a LOT of "elbow grease" to do a fraction of the job.... It's very frustrating. Does anyone have tried and true recipes that you stand by?
In Produce Bags Don't Work
Carrots can actually last longer than those other vegetables (potatoes, onions and especially cukes) naturally without the bags too. Either way, I don't see it being much of a greener alternative if most people need to use a paper towel with every bag, right? Just buy what you'll consume, and if you buy as much of it from local sources as possible, it will last longer. (no time wasted on being plucked a bit soon and trucked all over the country before sitting on shelves..)
