I am a SAHM of one. My son Bruno was born in April of 2007. I have been married since 2004 and I do freelance writing and editing projects in my spare time. In addition, I have written articles on parenting and other topics for momazine. com, the Mother Verse blog, and dcguide.com. Prior to becoming a mother I worked fulltime in Washington, DC as a nanny and household manager. I am always looking for new activites to try out with kids and I try to help others who are new to parenting since it is a huge adjustment in the begininng.

In Traveling with kids from a dad's perspective
This article was inspiring and reminded me that vacations are supposed to be FUN, not stressful.

In Garnet Hill Sale of the Day
I am so excited to hear that Garnet Hill has a sale of the day, thanks so much for sharing. I recently purchased some clothes from their "Holiday Sale" catalog and I got some really great deals. Sturdy cordoury pants for little boys were only $8 a pair!

In My Very Own Name
I would like to second Kristen's words about the My Very Own Name Books. My son was given one when he was born and he loves the colorful pictures. I love that it helps teach him his name and the letters that make up his name. It was a very unique gift and remains very special to both myself and my son. This is a great gift to give to others.

In 5 baby items I never (or rarely) used
I agree that the wipe warmer is a waste of money and not really a necessity. It seems like I am constantly having to wet the sponge at the bottom of the warmer to keep the wipes moist. It is just easier to keep the wipes in the bag or plastic holder that they come in. As for the stench coming from the Genie or Diaper Champ, One Step Ahead makes these small plastic yellow disks to put in the bottom of the pail to kill the odor. They are reasonably priced, about 20 disks for $6.00, and each disk lasts for about 30 days. Just throw the disk in the bottom of the pail at the start of the month and replace it at the end of the month. These disks helped the stench for wafting out of the pail into the nursery.
