If your child is on prescription medicine, here is a great tip to keep him or her safe. This is useful whether you dispense the medicine or whether your child takes his or her own from the bottle. In our house, my husband and I are on several daily medications, so in order to prevent our son from taking the wrong medicine, I looked for another place to store his pills. I could not find any place that was appropriate other than where we already keep our pills. So, in order to be absolutely certain our son does not get the wrong medicine, when his new prescription comes into the house, I use a bright colored Sharpie and draw a thick ring around the middle of the bottle as well as around the edges of the cap. Now, whoever is dispensing the medicine can see instantly if it is the correct bottle.
