My kids hate to wait for glue to dry.  So do I.  Then I happened across Glue Dots in AC Moore.  Glue Dots are amazing little circles of adhesive that instantly bond almost anything.  They come in many sizes and variations for different kinds of projects - the larger dots are easier for kids to manipulate.  Check them out - they have made our craft time into instant gratification!  You can find them at office supply stores, craft stores like AC Moore and I have found them in Oriental Trading Company's catalog too.  They cost a little more - about $3.99 for 200 dots.
