No, this is not a recipe. It's an inexpensive way to keep your toddler occupied long enough for you to make dinner. All you need is one bag of dry navy beans, two bowls, and maybe a spare measuring cup. Pour the beans into one bowl, and encourage your child to use the measuring cup (or her hands) to transfer beans from one bowl to the other. It's like an indoor sandbox, but way less messy. You can mix things up by adding a different color bean to the mix, or a much larger bean like lima beans.

Tip: put an old towel down underneath, so if the beans spill (and they inevitably will) they won't bounce too far.

We have a Montessori household and this was the best fun my kids had as little ones...we also put the beans (I used rice) into a wardrobe box placed on a shower curtain...hours of fun!! :) Fun Tip!
