The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has a website devoted to promoting emergency readiness.  The site includes a section for older kids, that includes tips on how to talk about plans for the family, lists of basics to have on hand for emergencies, games for increasing knowledge and guides.  The Ready America subsite contains much information geared towards adults.  The supply lists and guides are valuable, particularly for families, because during emergencies is not the best time to discover you don't have something the kids need.
