If your family likes to ski but you're not excited about how much all the lift tickets cost, check out Liftopia. Liftopia sells discount lift tickets at ski resorts across the country. You need to purchase the tickets for specific days, and the tickets are not refundable, but great discounts are available. You search by date and state or category (e.g. Easy Drive from Boston, Family Friendly, Great for Beginners, and more) to see what is available. I searched for "Easy Drive from Boston" for this weekend and found tickets at Gunstock Mountain Resort in NH for $7 per person (88% off). Granted, only a few trails are open right now, but bookmark this site if your family likes to ski!
