Garlic Bread Appetizer
If you love garlic, and don’t mind the strong smell, then add this recipe to your collection of starter dishes. This recipe is so easy to make and you can add as much or as little garlic as you like. By adding the cheese on top, you can really serve up a tasty treat with little effort.
Ingredients:
One loaf good Italian Bread
3 to 4 cloves minced garlic
3-4 Tbls salted butter or Smart Balance spread
¼ cup Extra Virgin or standard Olive Oil
¼ copped fresh flat-leaf Italian parsley
1 ball of fresh mozzarella cheese sliced (or you can use 1 cup of whole milk mozzarella cheese; shredded).
Cooking Instructions:
Heat the butter on low heat; add the garlic, olive oil, dash of black pepper and mix well.
Cut the bread in half; place them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or tinfoil.
Spread the butter and oil mixture onto the bread loaves with a large spoon.
Sprinkle the parsley onto the bread and then add the mozzarella evenly onto both loaves of bread.
Insert into an oven preheated to 375 degrees.
Bake for approximately 15 to 20 minutes or until cheese and bread become slightly golden brown at edges.
Optional: When you take the bread out of the oven, add a sprinkle of parmesan cheese on top and some more pepper to taste. Serve with a small bowl of marinara sauce for dipping.
Using a large cutting knife, chop the bread into medium-sized slices and arrange them on a nice oval or square serving platter.
