Create a reading library right in your own home! When your children are on holiday break, or off for the summer, fill your home with classic texts, books by new authors and educational books. Hopefully, with so many diverse subjects at their fingertips, your kids will want to read. Host a book party during the summer, or a holiday themed one, for your children and their friends. Choose a topic such as science, the ocean, or sports and have the books tie-in with the theme. Provide book lists for the children to choose from to read. Suggest that they dress up for the party, too. There’s a host of book recommendations at ReadingRockets.org
