Here's a handy site that will help parents understand a lot of the new Chat room abbreviations and lingo that kids use today in text messaging & in chat rooms.   It's called NetLingo and it has a lot of really helpful pages full of the latest acronyms and abbreviations for you to know about and look out for.  It also keeps up with all the latest and greatest in Text Messaging terms.

If anyone has read any online conversations the kids have today with the various abbreviations that they use the first thing you realize is that it is truly a language of its own and how lost we as parents are in regards to what this "language" means.  It's important to be in the know.

Here's a list of the Top 50 Internet Acronyms Parents Need to Know - (essentially, these are red flags for sexually explicit conversations) and there's a whole lot more that many parents of tweens & teens will find really enlightening.

I also thought that the Text Message Shorthand was just sort of a nifty and practical resource if you actually use text messaging as well.
