Did you ever "sort of hear" on the news that a product was recalled but you weren't sure if it was the one you owned? http://www.recalls.gov/ is a fast, easy way to check for recent or relevent recalls. Sort of a one stop shop for product recall information.
The site is broken down by category and federal agency jurisdiction and you can search each one for fast results. You can even sign up to receive email updates if you are into that.
Categories include, but are not limited to Motor Vehicles, Child Safety Seats, Tires, Equipment, Food, Medicine, Cosmetics, Consumer Goods etc... - pretty much anything you can think of - as well as a comprehensive Monthly Recall report.
Just a handy one to bookmark for when you might need to verify something.
