I had an opportunity to visit Grandma Leeth's restaurant in Portland this week with my 15 month old son. I had heard about this restaurant from some other mother's in the area & wanted the opportunity to check it out first hand.
Grandma Leeth's is unlike any restaurant I have experienced before. On one side of the restaurant there is a dining room, just as any other restaurant would have. On the otherside, there is a play area that has tons of toys, books, games & activities to keep the kids busy while the adults enjoy their meal.
There are a variety of meals that are served in this restaurant. One thing that they do not serve is carbonated beverages or deep fried foods. Choices includes favorites such as pasta, soups, salads, and offerings from many different world cuisines.
Overall, the concept is great. It is decorated nicely & has a great contemporary feel to it. The only thing I was disappointed in was that my son was not able to go into the "play" area because he was under 2 years old. A friend of mine brought her sons & they went in to play. The staff at Grandma Leeth's provided a waiver form and provided constant supervision of the kids while they were in the play room.
Our meal was very good. I had the hummus on the appetizer menu, my son had the cheesy pasta and my husband had the adult creamy pesto pasta.
We will definitely return to this restaurant, although we may wait until our son is a few months older so that he can enjoy the play room & all of the children's activities.
