Playspace at Atrium Mall at Chestnut Hill

We checked out the new playspace on the 4th floor of the Atrium Mall this weekend. Although a little small and crowded, it was a great place for my toddler to burn off some energy. They have a small slide structure, funny mirrors, and other things to climb on and crawl through. It's very clean and right next to some enormous bathrooms.

For me, the best part was going to the Vietnamese restaurant, Le's (formerly Pho Pasteur), on the first floor afterwards.  Their pho (soup) was awesome, and they saw that my toddler was a little wound up from being at the playspace, so they sat us right next to a fish tank.

An added bonus: free indoor parking!  The only money we spent was for lunch.  Not bad for a toddler day out.

The old space, while primitive, was excellent. Large enough that kids could run around, and structures that were good for kids up to 6. There was lots of seating and a clear view of the door, in case the kids tried to escape. The only thing the new space has going for it is the bathrooms. The playspace is small and crowded, the layout doesn't allow you to be lazy (if you're sitting in the back and your kids go toward the front, you have to get up to see if they're going to escape). The structures are slippery, uninteresting, and no fun for any kid over 2. A huge disappointment. The entire mall has lost a lot of business.

We were there a couple weekends ago too and I loved the bathrooms and how everything was so new and clean. Like mentioned before though, it is a lot less spacious and the play structures are now geared towards much younger children only, whereas the previous setup had structures for both younger and older preschoolers.

I've been there and frankly I prefer the playground they had before. The new one gets super crowded and the structures are very slippery. Bigger kids throw little ones to the ground. The only improvement were the bathrooms right next to it.
