Oceanside Harbor with easy access from Highway 5 in southern California is a wonderful place to visit with many things to do and see.  It has a path where you can walk around the harbor admiring the many different docked boats.  Boat rentals are also available as well as harbor or fishing cruises.  Several family friendly restaurants and shops are located in the area.  If you are lucky you may observe the family of seals that tend to sun themselves on the docks on warm days or see them playing and swimming in the water.  Seagulls and pelicans are in abundance and within a short walk you can get to beautfiul sands of Oceanside beach.  Buy lunch there or pack a picnic and take advantage of the grassy areas or picnic tables.  Free parking is available, but keep in mind spaces do get sparce on weekends, especially in the summer months.  Twice a year they have Harbor Days which boast the typical craft and food booths, entertainment and special events.  Spend an hour or spend a whole day. Oceanside Harbor is a wonderful retreat anytime of year.
