Slate.com has a great article on how to garden with your kids without losing your mind. They give ideas for kid-friendly plants (the huge joe pye weed, sunflowers, tomatoes, etc.). The author also recommends giving kids a designated place in the garden and allowing for a little leeway on your perfect color scheme (if you have such a thing).
