If you are looking for some outdoor fun, check out the Quail Botanical Gardens in Encinitas. Just a short distance north of San Diego, these gardens are absolutely gorgeous. Kids of all ages will enjoy exploring the different garden areas. You have the option to stay on the paved walkways or take various trails through desert gardens, tropical gardens with a beautiful waterfall in the center, bamboo gardens featuring a pond, herbal gardens and many more. I would recommend taking the short walk to the look-out point. The ocean view is spectacular! There is also a children's garden filled with all kinds of fun activities. There is a schedule of programs for children that include garden-oriented science activities, arts and crafts, story time, and more. This is a great all day outing for the whole family.
