The Discovery Museum is a fantastic hands-on science adventure perfect for elementary school, and even high school, ages.  The staff routinely changes the theme and everything is childproofed so you can let the kids wander about at their own pace.  It also offers a nature room with unwanted animals they have adopted over the years.  Every day the room offers a nature presentation and will usually bring out one of their animals for the kids to see up close. 

It is a fantastic place to go when the kids are ancy and it's raining outside.  Even for a sunny day, the museum is located on beautiful grounds.  There is a nature trail, supplemented with a handout of the trees you will see, a little lagoon with sun-basking turtles, and a large picnic area.  The planetarium offers daily shows for ages four and up.
