The best thing to prevent ribbons from fraying when making hairbows is to heat seal the ends. I use a butane grill lighter. It's handle is long and the lighter is easy to activate and prevents yourself from getting burnt. You must always use safety measures though and never do this around kids.By sealing the ribbon ends, the bow would not fray and this gives it longevity.
