Check out www.newenglandWILD.org for events, classes, tours, books, plants, and excitement at New England Wild Flower Society's Garden in the Woods. Spring is a beautiful time to visit the 45-acre gardens featuring over 1,500 native plant species and cultivars and 200 rare species. You will see more rare and endangered native plant species on a visit to Garden in the Woods than you will in a lifetime of hiking elsewhere. Each week brings a new vista of color to the gardens. Spring is especially exciting with flowering trees, shrubs, grasses, and perennials. Children have a multi-layered experience hiking, enjoying the colors of the gardens, listening to the sounds of nature, learning about conservation, seeing rare and endangered native plant species, and perhaps purchasing a plant for their home garden. Plant specialists can help a family design a butterfly garden and select the perfect plants for it.
