Mesh Crib Bumpers: No Entangled Limbs, but Without the Suffocation Risk

Wanting to avoid the suffocation risk, we chose not to purchase my daughter's crib a bumper when she was first born. Once she got more active, however, she would roll around and her arms and legs would become trapped in between the rails of the crib, waking and frightening her.

At Babies R Us, we purchased a mesh bumper that solved all of our problems. It kept Selah's legs from poking out between the slats, but posed no risk if she rolled her face against it, as it was made out of a breathable mesh material. It is also slightly padded, to make the crib sides softer. It wasn't the most beautiful thing in the world, but it wasn't all that bad-looking either.

I highly recommend them! And please don't just put a pretty bumper in your child's crib for cuteness' sake-they are not worth the risk.
