Pool safety is very important.  A pool is one of the most dangerous areas of any home or backyard.  If you do not own a pool more then likely you know someone who does.  So as a parent is important to teach your children the basics.  You don’t have to be an Olympic swimmer but you do have to know some basics that will help your child.

Try to get in the pool and review some of these skills with your child:

•    How to blow bubbles.
•    Have them kick their feet.
•    Teach them to stay away from the edge of a pool.
•    No running on the pool deck.
•    Most Importantly: Teach them what to do if they fall in, kick their feet, move their arms and move toward the side of the pool.  Always teach them to reach for the side of the pool and how to pull themselves out.
Have fun and be safe.
