Tips for Removing Mosquitoes from Your Backyard

I hate mosquitoes, and mosquitoes love me and my family. I found this backyard gadget a great solution to the problem of keeping my two kids and dog safe from dangerous biting mosquitoes.  It's called the Mosquito Vacuum, and you can buy it at any home improvement store like Home Depot and Lowe's (though I heard they sell out quick).  It uses CO2 to heat up this 2-in-1 bait, which lures the mosquitoes towards it and then the vacuum sucks them into a bug basket. It is fueled by propane (same as your gas grill) and you need to plug it in away from your deck or patio, or where the kids are playing.  I live on a river, so I put it near there because that's where the mosquitoes breed.  It has really helped us reduce the population of these dangerous pests (did you know dogs get dog heartworm from mosquitoes?)... if you look in the basket after a week or so, it's filled with nasty dead skeeters. It costs about $300 including the bait and propane, but it's worth it if you can play outside without a night of scratching and whining and possible skin infections, like my daughter's had from picking at bug bites.

The website is www.farewellmosquitoes.com and there are lots of mosquito facts and a "survival guide" on there with more tips.  Empty tires, containers, even play equipment are breeding grounds for mosquitoes, for example.

Buzz about it to your friends and neighbors who have buggy backyards...  it really helps.

The cool thing about the Mosquito Vacuum is that you leave it on and forget about it... when the temperature dips, it goes into standby, saving you propane fuel and power costs. You should leave it running so it catches skeeters constantly, helping you every time you use your yard.

I'm wondering if you need to use this constantly or can you bring it out the times you use your yard?

They do work well... the Mosquito Vacuum is brand new this year and much more reliable and clog free than its competitors, which you must be referring to. Kaz Inc. (manufacturer) has an excellent record for customer service - they also service quality brands like Honeywell and Braun.

These really do work well - but note we are on are second one. Most of our friends bought their first one about 4 years ago, almost everyone we know has had to buy a second one. The are really hard to fix if they break.
