This book, which was written by a teacher, provides detailed information about recognizing sensory disorders in children.  It also offers practical strategies parents can use to help children with sensory problems.  If your child seems clumsy, tactile defensive, confused, is sensitive to sounds and acitivities that do not bother other children or exhibits other behavior that indicates there may be sensory issues, this book is extremely helpful in understanding and dealing with the underlying cause.

This book struck me like a lightening bolt when I read it!! Finally something that answered my questions, "why do noises bother my daughter in a way I NEVER see them bothering other children?" Highly recommended!

You're right. The Out-of-Sync-Child has Fun does have some creative activities. The first book explains sensory integration dysfunction in greater detail and has activities and the second book focuses more on the activities aspect.

There is a follow up book to this one, called the Out of Sync Child has Fun. It has wonderful activities that work on sensory integration difficulties.

This is a new book to me - MANY thanks because I was just talking with a friend the other day about this. Great timing!
