We just returned from a trip to Story Land and stayed at the Fox Ridge Resort in North Conway. We stayed at the Fox Ridge in order to gain access to the Red Jacket's new waterpark, Kahuna Laguna. Here are the top ten things we liked about North Conway's newest waterpark. - Brand new & immaculate changing rooms, locker rooms and restrooms.
- Free lockers, towels & life vests for small ones
- Lifeguards everywhere (watch out for their frequent "tests" saving dolls)
- Tons of chaise seating in view of the water activities for the under 6 set - (seemed like much more than at Coco Key)
- Lots to do for the under 6 set - (baby bouncy swings so their feet are in the water, three sizes of "small" slides, zero entry wave pool, ankle deep water pools with "bubblers" and a climbing structure for the older ones with rain, water shooters and more)
- Four huge water slides for the bigger kids (and adults) - two for the tubes, two for nontubes (one open, one closed for each type)
- A neat basketball court with 4 hoops in waist high pool (but I can see kids getting bonked with the basketballs on the head if it was really packed in there)
- Great wave pool with strong waves for the bigger kids
- Nice hot tub at the back, up high so you can watch all the action
- Ability to stay at the Fox Ridge down the street and still gain access to Kahuna Laguna (we wanted a bit more space outside for the kids to run around and a bit lower room rate than at the Red Jacket)
For info on the other waterpark in North Conway, see this tip.Comments Jenny Y. Jun 21, 2009 I was so excited when I saw this I had to call Fox Ridge right away. Unfortunetly this article doesnt give the full info. If you stay at the Fox Ridge they will transport you via shuttle to the Kahuna Laguna free of charge but then you still have to pay a $20 per person admission into the waterpark:( Not worth it for my family at $225 per night at the hotel.
