My kids used to fight fiercely against liquid cold or cough medicine, until I remembered Mary Poppins. No, I wouldn't give a spoonful of sugar, but three chocolate chips work just as well. The kids think they are getting a big treat, and there are fewer than 10 calories, and barely any fat in the chips. They especially get a kick out of eating the chips before breakfast or late at night, when they would never ordinarily be allowed candy. Now, they hold the chips in their hand, swallow the medicine, and pop in the chips. No whining, no complaining! HINT: always keep a bag of chocolate chips in the freezer, to use for medicine, or sprinkle on peanut butter sandwiches instead of jelly, or drop three or four onto pancakes instead of butter.
