The Birmingham Fire Station offers a free CPR class once a month. It will only teach you the basics, but it's great information to walk away with and is taught in an environment where you can practice and ask the firefighters questions. This is usually offered once a month, and if you're interested you can also sign up for the certification class. (though there is a charge for that)
