I just got back from a lovely vacation in Misquamicut Beach, Rhode Island in the town of Westerly. We stayed at the nicest motel, The Seashell Motel, with the pinkest exterior! The motel is very small, but clean. The owners are lovely. The motel accepts dogs, and has an outdoor jacuzzi and paddleboats and canoes for free. The backyard is a lake, and the beach is a three to five minute walk. The beach is beautiful, with waves perfect for preteens to feel like they're in Hawaii. There's lots of family oriented things to do, as well as lots of bars and nightclubs for those who leave the kids home. Check it out!
