My daughter reminded me today of a trick I used to use when she was little. All my kids would get a little (actually a lot) freaked out when they were bleeding. It wasn't the booboo or the pain, it was the sight of the blood that upset them. So I bought a couple of bright red washcloths. When there was a bleeding booboo, I just wet the washcloth and held it to the cut. They could no longer see the blood and they calmed down immediately. You could also wrap the red cloth around an ice pack, if needed.
