A nice place to visit is the out of the way Dungenous State Park just north of Sequim, Washington on the Olympic Peninsula. The park hosts the world's longest natural sand spit that extends several miles into the Strait of Juan deFuca. The area is also a National wildlife refuge in which to wander and view the native wildlife. The park is a few hours drive from Seattle via Tacoma Washington or one can take the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island and drive from there. The time to Sequim may be shorter via Tacoma than the ferry depending on the schedule and ferry traffic. Check out Dungenous State Park for details.
