If you're going to the farmer's market, there are a few things you need to know first. If you prepare a bit ahead, you'll come back from your trip to the market with loads of goodies for you and the family!
Get there early. The best stuff like fresh eggs get bought out quickly.
Taste the samples! There's good stuff to be had at the market. Try things out.
Bring cash. Small bills is best.
Ask questions of the farmer: how is the food grown? where is the farm located? how do I prepare this strange vegetable I've never seen? what goes well with that goat cheese?
Get creative. Plan meals around what's at the market instead of buying food for your preplanned meal. If you get your ideas from what's available, you'll have great in-season food to eat and a creative joy to share at the table.
