This week is my week to read to my daughter's first grade class.   So in trying to choose the "perfect book" to read, I discovered this site that lists great read aloud books by grade level that has proven very helpful!

Each age appropriate list has about 100 books that have been recommended by librarians, educators, authors and teachers based on the following criteria:

• Excellent read-aloud appeal
• Cross-section of male/female characters, genres, and popular authors
• Strong character development, plot, themes, and positive messages
• Age appropriateness

The site lists the title, author, date of publication and the year it was added to the list.  It also breaks the books down by age level.
