If the kids are starting to bug you for a puppy, wait! Don't make the decision on what breed is right for you, your family, and your lifestyle based on how cute it is. Do your research online (www.akc.org) and then visit the Bay Colony Dog Show, one of the nation's largest American Kennel Club events featuring all 155 breeds of dogs - over 2,000 dogs each day - and talk to breeders, groomers, handlers about their breed. Use the free Pedigree Select-A-Dog computer to answer a series of questions and find out what breeds are right for you, then go find those breeders and learn more about the characteristics of the breed.
Bringing a dog into your family is a long-term investment... the Bay Colony Dog Show is a great place to do your homework, watch the nation's top dogs, and do some holiday shopping while you are there. The show is December 4-7, 2009 at the Bayside Expo in Boston; details at www.baycolonydogshow.com. Fun for the whole family!
