Chocolate Coins Recalled

Many of you have read about the food poisoning of many infants in China due to tainted milk.  As I write this there are now tainted eggs being pulled off of shelves in Hong Kong.  But for Halloween the scare has moved a little closer to home. In Canada, Sherwood Brands Pirate's Gold Milk Chocolate Coins have also tested positive for the chemical Melamine that has serious effects on humans, including death.

I have attached an article from snopes but you can also search for it on MSNBC as well as other news channels. To clarify, these coins have only been found in Canada through Costco.  Costco does state that the shipment was not to any US state, only Canada. Human error is easy and unfortunately Costco may fully believe there are no shipments to the US but I would suggest not buing these chocolates for Halloween this year - from Costco or any other store.

FYI: I had two packages of these coins, ordered from the popular party website Oriental Trading. They have been tossed out thanks to this post on Family Zip, thankfully before I put them in our pinata!
