Someone has developed a website where you can take lots of big steps to change the world in one place.  www.change.org

This website allows you to create a profile (a la myspace or facebook) and sign up to get info on causes and non-profits you care about.  You can connect with other change makers, sign pledges and take action, and even raise money for your favorite cause.  I found this just in time for my birthday this year and asked for donations to Sierra Club instead of gifts via email to friends and family.

The website is only for change-makers so it is older-kid (and maybe even younger kid if you do it with them) friendly.  They can make a profile for themselves and start to make a difference.  Sometimes young people just want to be able to do SOMETHING and this website lets them.  Think of how it could make them feel to use their birthday or Christmas to make a difference in the lives of others!
