I bet there are only a handful of parents that have avoided the all too common diaper rash, but if you are not one of the lucky few, I have a few tips for you that will get you through the diaper stage. Make sure you change your child's diaper often, not just when you notice a stinky smell or a dragging drooper walking around your house. Is your child getting a diaper rash often? If so, you may need to change the brand of your diapers and wipes. He may be having a reaction to it.
When changing your child when they have a rash, keep the diaper off for awhile and let them air-dry. This will help in clearing up the rash. You can try the numerous diaper creams available (Butt Paste, Balmex, Desitin, etc.), but these are typically good to prevent bad rashes and not to get rid of those nasty ones. The following simple solution is what has been recommended by many doctors and is something you may have the ingredients for at home: mix equal parts of Maalox and Aquaphor Ointment together to form a paste.
Store in an airtight container (like a glad or rubbermaid small container). If you don't see an improvement, make sure you call your doctor because it might be a yeast infection or something that can't be treated without your doctor's help.
