Visit a great cultural gem for the whole family-the Danforth Museum of Art and Museum School displaying 3,500 works and special exhibitions. The Children’s Gallery shows original works at kids-eye level now through March 1, Aunt Harriet’s Underground Railroad in the Sky by Faith Ringgold. Check the website for current exhibitions. Drop by the "Goodnight Moon" cozy reading room for families. Guided tours at 1 p.m. included with admission. Drop by the museum store and check the website for a high-level array of art programs for kids and for families from clay to painting and drawing.
This is also a perfect place to schedule an "art party" or scout troup event.
The museum is free the first weekend of the month for all Bank of America cardholders through Museums on Us™. First Sunday Drop into Art Art Events for Families on the first Sunday of each month from 2-4 is a "don't miss." experience. Museum tours, and gallery activities led by Teen Docents and hands-on art activities inspired by the exhibitions, with materials included, is worth a special trip.Ideal for ages 5-10 and adult companions. Current exhibitions celebrate the works of renowned African American artists Faith Ringgold, Jacob Lawrence, and Meta Warrick Fuller, spanning a century of diverse vision.
