We are always looking for some affordable restaurants with that homemade feel, especially good breakfast food! If you remember Skips (it's gone now), then you will enjoy Jessie's Place right in Chelmsford center. The woman who opened it used to work at Skips. This place is small but cozy and it is seat yourself although there is no indication of that until you ask someone or else you are left standing there not knowing what to do (perhaps they will add a sign soon). We went on a Sunday morning around 10 a.m. and waited for about 10 mins for a table to open up so it wasn't too bad. But the waiting area is very tiny, not much of a waiting area but the wait was worth it.
There is street parking only so that is also sort of a drag but it didn't seem to pose a problem on the day we went.
The food is great and it is very affordable - we have two kids and they enjoyed their food too. If you like eggs benedict then you will love the different choices of "bennies" so yummy. Coffee is good and the oj is freshly squeezed which my husband loved. The only thing I wish they did is give crayons and paper to the kids so if you go there with your children, bring something for them to do. But the food is delicious and they are open only for breakfast and lunch 6 a.m.-3p.m.
