You've probably seen commercials advertising life insurance for children. You may have even wondered whether or not you need it.  I have life insurance policies for all of my children.  Why? Because I think it pays to be prepared. The policies that I have for each child are minimal, but they are large enough to cover funeral costs should we need them. 

It's something that most parents don't want to think about, for very good reason! We love our children and we don't want to think about anything bad happening to them, ever. But having a life insurance policy for your children is actually, in most cases, a wise idea.  

The good news is that policies for children are typically very cheap, because children are expected to live long beyond their childhood years. That means that you can buy a policy for a small amount of money, but have a lot of protection in the event that disaster strikes. 

Consider purchasing a term-life policy for your child, that will expire when he/she reached adulthood. There are even term policies now that will pay you back your premiums when the policy expires if it hasn't been used. 

No one wants to think about the death of their child, but take the time to consider life insurance for children, especially if you don't have savings to cover an unexpected death.
