Most parents are extremely picky about what they put on their baby's skin, as they should be! Natural baby lotion, those that use natural ingredients and provide full-dislosure on everything that's in their products, are the way to go.
When considering personal care products for your infant, it's important to remember that human skin has the incredible ability to absorb all of the things that we put on it. With that in mind, it's really important to be mindful of what we are putting on our own skin as well...but since a baby's skin is thinner than the skin of an adult, and their major organs are smaller as well, it's especially important to pay close attention to what we are putting on them.
I'm a huge fan of Burt's Bees Baby Lotionfor a couple of reasons.
First, this natural baby lotion is 98.8% natural. Burt's Bees is known for their high quality products, and this lotion for babies makes the grade. Second, the price is right at $3.99 for a 4 oz. bottle. Third, Burt's Bees is a company that really cares about sustainability and being eco friendly. They package all of their products using eco friendly materials, and seem to be quite socially responsible. Last, they list every ingredient that is used in their natural baby products in clear and readable English so you know exactly what's going on your baby's skin.
No matter what natural baby lotion you ultimately decide to purchase, I urge you to read the ingredients carefully. Watch closely for phthalates, a chemical found in many lotions and shampoos that has been proven to get into a baby's system and has been found in the urine of babies who had lotion or shampoo with this chemical used on them. The side effects of this aren't fully known, but it has been proven to mess up the reproductive systems in animals. It's not a risk that you're probably willing to take.
