My twins are in kindergarten so this is our first "school's out" summer coming up (it was daycare last year). I thought I'd "need" to send them to summer camp at least 2 days a week (my husband's home 3 days), so I started looking at the options. Registration is next month for our town camp (Feb)! Most camps are full weeks and don't offer partial, including our town run "camp". Our town "camp" is actually held at the public schools, which don't have A/C generally and our summers have been HOT and HUMID. The full week camps would cost us about $4,800 for 8 weeks for both kids (in total). Teamworks for just 2 days a week would be about $2,300. We're thinking about tossing the whole "camp" idea out the window and covering the weeks ourselves with vacation time, working at home, and a few days of grandma's help. This way, we'll save thousands that we can put towards water park passes and our vacation this year! We're both employed full time but in this economy, you never know, so every dollar counts!
