My kids are teens and preteens, so the magic is going out of Valentine's Day. To grab it back, I picked up a ready-to-decorate cardboard mailbox. We got it at Walmart, but I know Michael's and ACMoore has them too. We have a few weeks to put in notes and cards for each other and we'll open them on Valentine's Day. The whole family is getting into it. This idea can extend all year long too. Decorate the mailbox with things that are important to your family instead of hearts. Once a month or so, open the mailbox and give out the mail. All year, family members can drop in compliments, love notes, or notices that they saw someone doing something nice for someone else.
