I know that we have decided to just go to "grandma and grandpa's" house and spend some time in NYC for vacation this year to save a little money.  I'm a big believer in always having a balance of work and play.  We have never been huge vacation goers but sometimes you just need to get away from the daily routine, the house etc.

For those of you looking for something to do that is a little closer to home, I highly recommend looking into the Cape as a winter spot.  We went over Christmas for a couple nights and had a blast.

The Cape Codder has programming ongoing all day for all ages that you don't find many places around here.  I also happen to love the Cape in the winter because it's just a quiet and cozy place.  If you can get into one of the fractionals (they're being sold but some are still available for short stays) it's like having your own "beach home" but with all the hotel amenities. 

Finally they Cape Codder, John Carver Inn and the Daniel Webster Inn have wonderful spas.  If you want to do a little getaway with the girlfriends or while you're on the cape with the family and you need a little me time.  They cost is much less than a spa in the city and, though I was skeptical, the quality of the technicians was surprisingly top notch.  I can't remember who gave me my massage but she was at the John Carver Inn and she was the only person who has given me as good a massage as my regular massage therapist (who left for New York)and I haven't found anyone I like as much since.
