If you haven't heard of electronic book readers, or wireless reading devices, you've got to check out the Kindle 2, this thing is seriously cool.
I LOVE to read. I spend thousands of dollars each year on books. I probably spend more on books than I do on clothes. When the Kindle first came out last year, I bought one and I love it. I'm giving it to my daughter as soon as I get my new one, which I've already ordered.
If you don't already know about this cool electronic book reader, here's a brief overview for you:
It's about the size (height and width) of a small paperback book, but it's thinner than a magazine and it weighs only 10 ounces. The Kindle holds up to 1,500 books at one time and lets you download them through a 3G connection (same as what the iPhone is using). You don't have to pay for the connection - you only have to buy the books. The coolest thing is that you need no other hardware or software to make this work.
There are about 230,000 books available and you can also download magazines, newspapers, blogs, and more.
Don't feel like reading or you like to listen to books on tape when driving? This electronic book reader will actually read all of the books to you! If you want to read them like you do a traditional book, you can do that too. It reads just like a book.
There isn't enough good I can say about this book. The $329 price tag may put some people off, it did me at first. However, books that I traditionally paid more than $20 for, I buy for my Kindle for less than $10.
And, it's eco friendly! Imagine all the trees that you save when you read your books in electronic format instead of on paper.
One last thing I love about the Kindle is that it saves tons of room in my house. My bookshelves were overflowing with books. When I first bought one, I didn't know what I'd do with all the extra space, but trust me, it comes in handy. Bookshelves can now be used to store craft projects, kids toys, or used to display special items.
If you haven't seen the Kindle 2 yet, make sure that you take the time to check it out.
It pays for itself after about 30 book purchases, plus it's really cool. I don't usually get into electronics at all, but I love this thing!
