Using an Electric Space Heater to Save Energy

If you live in a cold weather state, using an electric space heater could actually help you to save energy.  Using a heater in the room that you are in will allow you to turn your thermostat down and it's much more cost effective to heat the room that you are using than it is to heat the entire house.

On top of that, electric space heaters are being made more energy efficient than ever before.  They are also capable of heating large areas.

Consider buying an electric space heater, and saving some energy in your home! There are some things to consider when purchasing a space heater though.

Safety should be the most important consideration as you look for an electric space heater. For example, the DeLonghi DFH132 SafeHeat Fan Heater has many important safety features, including an automatic shut-off when it's tipped over or covered with blanket.  This heater also has two heat settings that allow you to save energy by running the one that is most appropriate for the space that you are heating.

It's also important to consider the amount of room that you are trying to heat.  You don't want to purchase a small heater for a very large room or you'll only end up frustrated.  On the other hand, you also don't want to purchase a large heater for a small home office or bathroom - it would simply be a waste of money and electricity.

If you are heating a large area, like a living room, consider a baseboard heater like the Q-Mark Electric Hydronic Baseboard Heater

On the other hand, if you are looking for a space heater for your bathroom or a small home office where you'll be working at a desk, you should consider a blowing heater that will keep you warm in a small area, such as the WindChaser Electric Space Heater.

No matter what space heater you use, make sure that you get the maximum energy savings by keeping it set at the lowest temperature at which you will feel comforatable and always remember to turn it off and/or unplug it when you are not home or are not using it.
