Hawaii won't have it's own Disney World theme park, but a Disney World Resort is being built on the island on Honolulu in Hawaii. They broke ground in October, 2008 and plan to have the 350 hotel rooms and 480 time shares. They plan to complete the hotel in 2011. Even though there won't be a theme park included, this will be Hawaii's first totally family oriented resort. They do plan to have a great pool and lagoon area complete with volcano slides.

They say that they have finally decided to take the plunge, so to speak, to build in Hawaii because many of the Disney Vacation Club members consistently ask for vacations in paradise.

If you are planning a Hawaii vacation a few years down the road, check to see if the Disney World Resort in Hawaii is open before you travel. If it's anything like the other properties owned by Disney, it's going to be pretty amazing and a great place to spend vacation!
