I came across a great article at Parenting.com with some great ideas for teaching kids about money that I thought was worth sharing.
These are mostly games to play with younger kids that will help them to learn about money and can also teach them about the value of different coins and bills. There are a lot of fun ways to ingegrate learning about money with learning about matching items, counting, and more.
If you are looking for something different to do with your kids to help them learn about money, check out these games. Our favorites are the matching game, and the bottle full of money. I don't know why, but my kids love to play with real money and I can get her to match actual coins much better than she will coins drawn on pieces of paper.
We also like to play the "compare the bills" games. In this game, you take different bills - such as a $5 and a $10 and have your kids find the diference and the similarities. It's fun to find the ways that the bills are different from eachother and the ways that they are the same.
Have fun and teach your kids about money at the same time!
